Charlotte varsity basketball players considering boycott after Coach Ernst resigns

CHARLOTTE, MI (WLNS) – There is still a firestorm in Charlotte over the sudden resignation of basketball coach Steve Ernst Monday.  Ernst is not talking and school officials aren’t returning calls, but the players on the Charlotte varsity team are considering boycotting Friday night’s scheduled game against Battle Creek Pennfield.

Team captain Collin Garn said Wednesday in a radio interview he’s not sure what the team will do and that administrators want the players to accept this and move on.

Garn isn’t sure the players are willing to do that. They believe Ernst was forced out and want the school board to ask him to return to coaching the team.
