UPDATE 11:15 p.m. – Power has now been restored in the planned outage in East Lansing today.
The Lansing Board of Water and Light scheduled the outage to make a repair to a power substation.
Some areas outside of East Lansing lost power during the period.
A Board of Water and Light spokesman said that was expected due to the way power is distributed in the area.
The East Lansing Police were notified of the planned outage at 10:00 a.m. and moved quickly to place officers in major intersections where traffic lights were to go dark.
EAST LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – The Lansing Board of Water and Light will be taking power down for a major portion of East Lansing today at 11:00 a.m.
There are repairs scheduled for a substation that should take approximately 20 minutes.
If drivers come to an intersection where traffic lights are not functioning they should treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
Seventeen intersections are expected to be without power. East Lansing police officers are expected to be directing traffic at the affected intersections.
