MSU drops from #1 to #5 after loss to Hawkeyes

EAST LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartan basketball team are no longer admiring the view from the top of the AP college rankings.

After losing 83-70 last week to the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Spartans, after four weeks on top, tumble from #1 in the Associated Press poll to #5 this week.

Taking over the top spot is Kansas with a 12-1 record, followed by Oklahoma (12-0).

Those two teams will play each other Monday night.

Kansas now becomes the fourth school to be ranked #1 this season. Besides Michigan State, North Carolina and Kentucky have been AP’s top-ranked team in the country this season.
