CANTON, MI (WLNS) – Michigan’s first ever December tornado has been confirmed.
The temperatures have been unseasonable for a Michigan December, but Canton residents were surprised when a tornado rolled through Wayne County Wednesday evening.
The EF-1 tornado touched down just before 7 p.m. Wednesday with winds reaching more than 90 miles per hour.
This marked the first December tornado in Michigan’s history.
However, there was a tornado in January 1996 and in February 1974, which were the only two others recorded during the winter season.
