LANSING, MI (WLNS) – It’s Christmas Eve and stores are filled with last minute shoppers.
Families rushed to the Meijer on Lake Lansing Road, and the parking lot at Meridian Mall was filled with cars.
While shoppers dashed through the stores, there were a few families in the crowds who enjoyed the last minute rush.
‘Tis the season, to last-minute shop.
“Laundry soap, milk, uh, cupcakes” little Taylor Droste said, while standing next to her mom’s shopping cart .
Others have just started their Christmas list.
“That’s why I’m here!” Karry Smith said.
Smith says this Christmas snuck up on him. At midnight he realized he didn’t have a single gift for any of his eight siblings.
“I have three sisters, five brothers.” Smith said.
Even though he only has leggings in hand for one of his sisters, he’s confident he will leave with presents in hand.
“Yeah I’m going to get it all” Smith said.
While Smith tells six news, he learned a valuable lesson and probably won’t do this again;
Mark Brett says he and his 3 daughters shop on Christmas Eve every year, it’s a tradition that started more than 15 years ago.
“I was running to the store just to run some errands, and there were dresses 60 percent off so I came home and said “hey lets go get a dress for Christmas”. We went out and got a dress had a great time Christmas rolls by a year later and its “dad it’s the annual Christmas tradition on Christmas Eve”, we go shopping”. Mark Brett said while standing next to his daughter.
