Gov. Snyder signs bill saving courts money and increases efficiency

LANSING, MI. (WLNS) – Changes are coming to the way Michigan courts handle paperwork and it might save you a trip to the courthouse in the near future.

Governor Rick Snyder signed six bills into law that will encourage courts to move away from filing court papers in person and instead filing them online.

The system is called e-filing, which the governor says will modernize the state court system making it efficient, faster and cheaper.

There are some fees involved to file the paperwork but the public will be able to view the e-documents for free.
