LANSING, MI (WLNS) – It’s Christmas time and that’s why in addition to a nativity scene of Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus, you’ll see a “snaketivity” scene.
For the second time the Satanic Temple of Detroit got permission to resurrect their display.
The organization says their message is plurality and “religious liberty.”
They have no intention of pushing the idea of Satan onto the public, but rather want to display that there’s more than one religion, even if one tends to dominate.
“We feel strongly that if there is one religious voice of perceptive represented on state grounds, there should be a diversity to be in conversation and representative of this diverse community that we live in,” said Jex Blackmore, director, Detroit Satanic Temple.
The snaketivity will be at the Capitol Thursday and Friday.
The Detroit Satanic Temple says they’ll be performing a satanic ceremony at the Capitol as well Saturday night at 8.
