MASON, MI. (WLNS) – Fifty under-privileged Lansing children got a chance to do some holiday shopping Wednesday with help from local police and firefighters.
Every child was paired up with an Ingham County Sheriff’s Deputy, Michigan State Trooper, Mason Police officer or Lansing firefighter and given a $100 Meijer gift card.
Classic Christmas items like Legos and Barbies were popular but not necessarily for the shoppers themselves, since many used the opportunity to buy gifts for family and loved ones.
Each of the kids also got a food basket to take home worth about $85.
