UPDATE: Suspect in Jackson armed robbery caught

UPDATE 1:05pm – It took fewer than 12 hours for officers from Jackson Police and the Blackman Township Public Safety departments to arrest a suspect in connection with an armed robbery this morning.

According to Jackson Police the suspect was caught during a traffic stop on County Farm Road.

Officers saw items from the robbery and, after questioning, the 27-year-old Jackson man was arrested.

He is now being held in the Jackson County jail.

JACKSON, Mich (WLNS) – Jackson Police are asking for your help in finding a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that took place this morning.

Police tell 6 News that officers were called to the BP gas station on the 800 block of Wildwood Avenue just after 2:00am.

The clerk told police that a suspect walked into the store wearing a ski mask, carrying a handgun and demanding money and cigarettes.

He was alone and ran out of the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Jackson Police K9 Team tracked the suspect for several blocks but lost the trail.

The gunman is described as a white male approximately 5’8″ and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds.

He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt under a black coat, black pants with a white stripe, black ski mask with black gloves.

He was carrying a black handled handgun with a chrome slide.
