Exam delayed for man accused in Mid-Michigan Physicians building car attack

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – The man accused of injuring three people when he drove his car into a Lansing Township medical office building will have more psychiatric exams before he’s back in court again.

Derrick Carter appeared via video conferencing today for what was scheduled to be his preliminary exam.

Carter faces charges of assault and attempted murder after driving his car into the side of the Mid-Michigan Physicians building November 18.

Three people were injured in that attack.

At his first appearance in court on November 18 Carter was disruptive, forcing a delay in proceedings.

He is being sent for a forensic examination to determine if he is competent to stand trial.

No date was set for that exam.
