UAW and two ‘Big Three’ contract decisions could reach a deal

DETROIT (WLNS) – New developments are underway on two UAW negotiations with two of the three Big Three automakers.

It seems like a lot of time has passed since Fiat Chrysler union workers voted in favor of a new four year deal which the UAW then ratified.

That happened in October.

Since then contract talks with workers from General Motors and Ford have hits snags for different reasons.

Those reasons might come to full light Friday.

The UAW National GM Council will be meeting Friday morning to discuss issues relative to the 2015 agreement and will also provide updates to GM officials.

Two weeks ago 55 percent of union workers voted in favor of a new four year contract.

A large number of skilled trade workers were against it.

That stopped UAW officials from ratifying the contract.

There’s a chance that could happen at Friday’s meeting.
