MSU ahead after day 9 of annual blood challenge against PSU

LANSING, MI (WLNS) – After nine days of blood donations, Michigan State University is ahead of Penn State in the 22nd annual MSU – PSU Blood Challenge.

The current totals after day nine of the annual challenge are MSU 688 – PSU 551.

MSU collected 95 pints of blood on Thursday, Nov. 12. The two schools were closer in numbers after Wednesday, at 593 (MSU) – 551 (PSU). However, PSU did not have any scheduled blood drives Thursday.

The competition, which started in 1994, has brought in more than 72,000 donations.

All current and former students, as well as faculty and fans are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and donate blood.

Penn State leads the blood donor challenge series 13-to-8, however the Spartans are going for their third win in a row after beating the Nittany Lions last year by 302 pints of blood.
