Veterans speak to preschoolers about ‘Mission: Readiness’

(WLNS) – Today two retired Major Generals spoke to children at the Educational Child Care Center about the importance of education, staying healthy, and following the law.

As a part of ‘Mission: Readiness’, military leaders are raising awareness of the report that 71 percent of young adults are not eligible for serving in the military.

The main reasons behind why so many are turned away are education, physical ability, and past criminal records.

Retired Major Generals Tom Cutler and Gerald Miller also read a book about a military family to the kids, and a wounded veteran also spoke about his personal experience in the military.

Dave Dunhart, who was wounded back in April while serving for the Michigan Army National Guard, still keeps active and goes out of his way to serve the community, and encourage the younger generation to serve the country.
