(WLNS) – The men of WLNS visited Aftershave barbershop on the last day of October to get their last shave before taking part in no shave November.
In honor of our Friends For Life series through the month of November the men are raising awareness for Men’s health by putting down their razors for a month, but not before they got one last shave as a team.
“Getting shaved like this is really showing that, you know, we’re taking steps forward for, for cancer awareness and men’s health,” Morning Anchor Justin Kree said.
Despite all of their different stories with health, they ultimately hope steps like these help make men aware of health problems they can face, and how they can combat them.
“I think we all have our own personal stories that deal with men’s health um mine was more with, you know, weight loss, but we all have our own personal stories, but this kind of ties us all together and just brings general awareness to, you know, men’s health,” Chief Meteorologist David Young said.
For some of them, this was the first time they had ever had a professional shave, which added to the excitement of the month ahead.
“This is the first time I’m actually going get a, a really clean cut shave, I mean I’ve done the razors and everything but to actually have a professional do it, I’m looking forward to it,” Kree said.
Even though they all left the barber shop with clean shaved faces, some of them know it won’t last for long.
“I’ve never not shaved for longer than a week, cause it gets pretty crazy, so we’ll see how it goes, I’m going to look like a werewolf by the end of the month, I can promise you that,” Meteorologist Joe Gollotto said.
While some of our men expect to be almost unrecognizable by the end of the month, others have no idea what is in store for them.
“I know I can’t really grow a good beard, so it’s going to be pretty hilarious whatever happens,” Young said.
All of the money then men would have spent on razors is being donated to NoShaveNovember and Movember to continue raising awareness and help with men’s health across the nation.
