YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) – Officials say a 14-year-old Michigan girl remains in critical condition after being hit by two vehicles and dragged nearly two miles while trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Our media partners at MLive say the girl has been in the hospital since the Saturday night accident in Washtenaw County’s Ypsilanti Township. Pittsfield Deputy Police Chief Gordy Schick said Monday she remains in critical condition.

Schick says the investigation continues and many details of the crash need to be verified. It was dark and raining at the time the girl was hit.

She was crossing a road, but not in a crosswalk, and was wearing dark clothing.

Ypsilanti Community Schools have made counselors and administrators available to students and families. Authorities haven’t released the identity of the ninth-grader.
