Meth lab tip leads police to woman being held hostage

JACKSON, MI (WLNS) – After receiving a tip about a meth lab, Jackson Police found a woman being held hostage.

It all started Tuesday morning in the 3800 block of E. South Street in Jackson.

Michigan State Police Firm Detective 1st Lt. Brian Balough says Jackson Police received a tip of an active meth lab at a home on South Street. When officials went to the home there was no answer.

They later found out a woman was being held hostage inside the house. The woman was communicating with police from inside the home.

An emergency support team was called in to negotiate with the man holding the woman hostage.

The man and woman walked out of the home at 5:45 p.m.

Michigan State Police Troopers found equipment to make methamphetamine inside the home.

Officials are working to question the man and woman while they investigate the situation.
