JACKSON, MI (AP/WLNS) – An eastern Michigan man has been reunited with his dog that was missing for two years.

Mitch Rowe says his black Lab Lazarus went missing from their home in Tipton just a week after moving there. Rowe says he put up fliers at a veterinarian’s office and around the area for more than a year in the search for his dog.

Our media partners at MLive say Rowe’s sister recently got a call from a Detroit-area shelter saying Lazarus had been found. The dog was under her name, and Rowe says Lazarus was returned thanks to the dog’s microchip.

Rowe says his family surprised him with Lazarus’ return. He says he and his 5-year-old dog reconnected immediately, and that Lazarus lit up at the sound of his name.
