Lansing community center opens it’s doors to prevent identity theft

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – There’s a fight brewing amongst state officials to fight to prevent identity theft and you’re invited to learn more.

There’s a free public event Tuesday night at the Letts Community Center in Lansing.

Officials from the Attorney General’s office will be leading a presentation on identity fraud.

They’ll talk about ways to protect yourself and what steps to take if your identity is stolen.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America that happens nearly 10 million times each year.

The event starts at 6:30.
