Deal may dodge federal government shutdown

WASHINGTON (WLNS) – House Republican leaders have struck a budget deal with the White House which might help the federal government avoid a shutdown.

The deal aims to fund the federal government before money runs out in December.

Officials say congress agreed to raise the federal borrowing limit by next week or risk a first ever default and government shutdown.

Many political experts say Speaker John Boehner is also hoping a deal is finalized under his watch before he retires from his position, which is expected to be filled by Congressman Paul Ryan on Thursday.
