(WLNS) – The nation’s cyber-security has been the subject of concern over the past several months and now the problem has become direr.
According to CBS news, e-mail accounts of two of the highest-ranked national security officials have been hacked.
Officials say an unknown individual tweeting under the name CWA released a statement with the names, social security numbers and phone number of about 20 people who are believed to be affiliated with the CIA.
The person, who claims to be a high school student, says the information came from the e-mail accounts of CIA Director John Brennan and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson.
On Monday, the self-claimed high-schooler tweeted out taunting messages like, “we are not doing this for personal satisfaction, we are doing this because innocent people in Palestine are being killed daily”.
Federal officials say the situation is being criminally investigated.
