Michiganders can win a piece of Capitol history

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – If you’ve driven by the State Capitol Building in the last several months you’ve probably noticed that there has been work being done on the building’s dome.

While the $6.4 million Dome Restoration Project is expected to be finished by November, 100 lucky Michiganders will grab a piece of history Monday.

Since October 6th the state capitol commission has been taking applications for people who wanted a chance to win a historic sandstone modillion, which will be removed during the project.

Winners will be notified by phone or email and can pick-up their modillion between October 22nd and October 24th.

The average modillion weighs between 25 and 40 pounds.
