ANN ARBOR, MI (WLNS) – The big match-up between Michigan State University and University of Michigan is less than 24 hours away.
The two teams will square off in Ann Arbor tomorrow afternoon, but festivities are already underway there.
MSU and U of M, both undefeated in the Big Ten, will battle it out for state bragging rights in Ann Arbor Saturday and ESPN College Game Day will be there to get the excitement going.
And many Michigan fans aren’t messing around, they’ll be camping out all night supporting their team ahead of game day and some of the fans are overly optimistic.
“We’re going to have another shutout, rivalry game, a good rivalry game,” Reid Larson, Student at U of M said. “We got College Game Day here it’s going to be a lot of fun. Our defense is going to out-score their defense.”
While others, more realistic.
“I’m not so sure about a shutout, just because Connor Cook, Aaron Burbridge, they’re a good combination,” Jacob Pitcher, U of M student, said. “They’re definitely going to get some yards on us, won’t be surprised if they poke one or two touchdowns..but at the end of the day I think we’re going to win.”
We all know, the rivalry between the Spartans and Wolverines can cause tension, especially when they walk on each other’s territory.
Some of it friendly.
“We’re going to treat them with respect as long as they’re respectful to us,” Pitcher said. “We’re not going to be making friends with them necessarily.”
Some, not so much.
“We’re not going to be welcoming, I mean I know we’re in the same state, but I don’t think that’s any reason to be welcoming to them.. They shouldn’t be here,” Tim Worley said.
“This is the turning point of the season, this is the biggest game of the year for us right now,” Blayze Damnon said. “So far, obviously in November it’ll be a lot bigger if we win this game, but gotta take it one game at a time.”
Either way fans will have something to cheer about.
