Meridian Twp. Police searching for man on the run

MERIDIAN TWP., MI (WLNS) – The Meridian Township Police Department is searching for a man on the run.

Meridian Twp. Police say the man tried to purchase a cell phone at a Verizon store using fraudulent means.

Following the attempted purchase, the man left the store, got into a car and drove away. Police went after him, but lost the man.

Officials say the man crash the car into some trees at Nemoke Trail. The man then got out of the car and took off on foot.

He was later spotted at Nancy Moore Park. Police attempted a search there. As of 3:26 p.m. they began searching the area of Okemos and Quarry.

They’re looking for a black man, about 6 feet tall. He has a beard and was last seen wearing a black sweatsuit.

If you see him, you’re advised not to approach him, but to call police and let them know where you saw the man.
