Lt. Gov. Brian Calley set to recognize disability advocates

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – You’re probably aware by now that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

What you may not know is that Governor Rick Snyder has also declared it to be Investing in Abilities Month.

It’s designed to help people with disabilities, find a job.

To celebrate the month Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley will be recognizing disability advocates from across the state Wednesday.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, Michigan is home to more than one million people with disabilities, who are welcomed to use the state’s employment services, available in all 83 counties.

The event starts at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson House office building in Lansing.
