Lansing Police warn of counterfeit money in the area

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Check your money because the Lansing Police Department says more than ten cases of counterfeit bills have turned up recently.

Investigators say local businesses have seen the bills over the past two weeks.

Police are asking for you to check your paper money.

You can do this by looking for a watermark, colorshifting ink and a security thread that flows in ultraviolet light.

If you suspect you have a fake bill you can check online at the US Secret Service site and clicking on the lower right hand corner on the link “Know Your Money”.
