Accused fatal hit-and-run driver back in court today

MASON, Mich (WLNS) – The Mason man charged in a fatal hit-and-run has been bound over to Circuit Court for trial.

41-year-old Randy Robbins will face trial in connection with the death of Michael Lorencen in August.

The 54-year-old Lorencen was walking in Alaiden Township early in the morning of August 7 when prosecutors say Robbins struck him while driving his Chevy Avalanche and then left the scene.

Robbins was later found at his home and arrested.

He has claimed that he thought he had struck a deer.

Robbins is charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, causing death and leaving the scene of an accident causing death.

Robbins next court date is October 21.
