UPDATE (5:28 p.m.) – Lansing Police say a person of interest in Friday morning’s homicide has been taken into custody. The suspect was found in Ypsilanti.
Officials will bring the suspect back to Lansing to be interviewed. More information is expected to be released from the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.
UPDATE (3:49 p.m.) – The victim in Friday morning’s homicide has been identified as 20-year-old Maurice Anthony-Charles Kirkwood of Haslett.
UPDATE 10:45am – Lansing Police tell 6 News that a 20-year-old Haslett man was killed and a second man was wounded in an early morning shooting.
According to police the two men got into an argument with two other men just after midnight on the 3200 block of Trappers Cove Trail.
Both shooting victims were taken to a local hospital where one man died and the second, a 28-year-old East Lansing man, was treated and released.
Officers were told that a white SUV was seen leaving the scene of the incident. Police believe the victims and suspects knew each other.
The investigation is continuing and we’ll have updates online and on 6 News when more is available.
LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Lansing Police are on the scene of an apparent homicide on the city’s southeast side.
It happened shortly after midnight near the intersection of Beau Jardin Drive and Trappers Cove Trail.
At this hour police are still searching for the gunman.
Police tell 6 News that it took place in the 3000 block of Trappers Cove.
Lansing Police were called to the scene just before 12:30 and determined the death to be a homicide.
While this investigation is still in the early stages, officers say they believe this was a targeted attack and there is no risk to the general public.
The victim has not been identified and, at this early hour, there is no information to pass along about the suspect.
