Portion of I-94 in Jackson Co. shuts down overnight after semi truck hits bridge

UPDATE (7:45 p.m.) – The right lane of I-94 westbound will remain shutdown overnight and is expected to open as early as Tuesday morning, that’s according to our media partners at MLive.

Deputy Director Jon Johnston of Blackman-Leoni public safety told the Jackson Citizen Patriot a semitrailer hauling an oversized load hit the bottom of the bridge on I-94 westbound. According to Johnston, the driver took off after hitting the bridge.

BLACKMAN TWP., MI (WLNS) – The right lane of westbound I-94 near Lansing Ave. is shutdown while officials work to cleanup an accident.

Officials say a semi truck hit a portion of the Lansing Ave. bridge while traveling on I-94. Lansing Ave. is also closed because officials are worried about the structural integrity of the bridge.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
