Barry Co. man accused of child porn, assault crimes

HASTINGS, Mich. (WLNS) – A 69-year-old western Michigan man is facing state and federal charges after a family member found film of a female being sexually abused.

David Heinsen is charged with child pornography crimes. Separately, he appeared in Barry County court Wednesday on first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges.

The Nashville Police began investigating complaints that child sexually abusive material had been found on a computer used by Heinsen.

According to the Barry County Prosecutor’s office and the Nashville Police department investigators found 650,000 images and 3,000 videos of child sexually abusive material at his Nashville home.

Nashville Police Chief Chris Koster stated that in his 30 plus years of law enforcement, this is the worst case he has ever investigated, considering the magnitude of evidence and the egregious nature of the images.

A federal magistrate judge in Grand Rapids ordered Heinsen to jail Monday without bond.

A grand jury returned an indictment last week, accusing Heinsen of receiving and possessing child porn.
