Man convicted of murder in violent 2014 killing

JACKSON COUNTY, MI (WLNS) – A Jackson County jury has found a man guilty of murder in what prosecutors are calling the violent death of a woman.

It happened on July 5, 2014. Akram Bilal has been found guilty of second degree murder, concealing the death of an individual and felony firearm in the death of Violet McElroy.

McElroy, 51 died of multiple gunshot wounds, officials say.

According to our media partners at MLive, McElroy’s body was found near a dumpster at Reed Manor Apartments in Jackson.

Bilal’s sentencing is scheduled for October.
