Fundraiser for fallen firefighter reaches goal in 10 hours

UPDATE (7:12 p.m.) – The fundraiser for Dennis Rodeman has reached its second goal of $100,000.

UPDATE (8:01 p.m.) – It took just 10 hours for the fundraiser setup for the family of fallen firefighter Dennis Rodeman to reach its $50,000 goal.

Now the official GoFundMe site has a new goal – $100,000.

More than 1,100 donations have been made so far.

All donations will go directly to Dennis Rodeman’s family.

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – The City of Lansing, Lansing Fire Department and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 421 have established an official fundraising site to benefit the family of Dennis Rodeman.

The Lansing firefighter was killed by a hit-and-run driver yesterday afternoon while collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s “Fill The Boot” charity drive.

According to Mayor Virg Bernero the fundraising campaign has a goal of $50,000 and individuals and businesses are encouraged to make their donations to this official Gofundme site.

Bernero adds that several other Gofundme sites were established overnight and those well-meaning efforts to support Firefighter Rodeman’s family are appreciated. The official Gofundme site has a dedicated bank account established by the IAFF Local 421 with all proceeds going directly to the family.
