Traffic ticket reviews go online in District Court

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Now you can resolve traffic tickets in Lansing’s 54-A District Court without having to leave your home.

The Court is now offering online options to have minor traffic tickets reviewed. The system works by walking an individual through a series of questions online that will determine if the ticket is eligible for online resolution.

If the person is eligible then they can submit a review request to the Lansing Police Department. Once the review is approved by police the request moves on to a judge or magistrate for final resolution. Defendants can follow the entire process online and will be notified of the judge’s decision by text or email.

District Court Judge Louise Alderson says the plan is modeled after the successful program in East Lansing District Court.

Taking part in the online program is voluntary. Defendants can still choose to have a hearing before a judge or magistrate.
