CHARLOTTE, MI (WLNS) – A Charlotte man has been convicted on animal abuse charges.
Brennan Wood, 20 faces up to four years in prison. Officials say Wood abused his girlfriend’s dog after her family took Wood into their home. Wood is charged with one count of abusing or torturing an animal.
Officials say Wood abused his girlfriend’s Shih Tzu, Buster. The dog was found with injuries after Wood and Buster were left alone.
The Eaton County Prosecutor’s Office says the girlfriend’s family took Wood into their home last June.
From August to November of 2014 Buster began to develop injuries and grew aggressive and fearful toward Wood.
He was arrested after police say Buster was found with seven broken ribs and a punctured lung.
Wood’s sentencing is scheduled for October.
