Man charged following reported sexual assault attempt at Albion College

ALBION, MI (WLNS) – A 20-year-old man is facing charges after a student says she woke up to him trying to have sex with her.

It happened around 4 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6 at Albion College.

A student told officials she woke up to a man trying to have sex with her in Wesley Hall.

Officials say she was able to fight the man off and when she began yelling for help, the man ran out of the room.

The investigation revealed the suspect, Keontia West broke into another residence hall building, which was not occupied at the time.

Albion Public Safety and Campus Safety arrested West on campus.

West is not an Albion College student, but was visiting another student in Wesley Hall prior to the incident.

The student was not injured.

Keontia West is charged with kidnapping, assault with intent to commit a felony, two counts of breaking and entering, minor in possession of alcohol and resisting and obstructing a police officer. His bond is set at $25,000. There’s no word yet on when he’ll be in court.
