Five charged for using skimming devices installed at Michigan gas pumps

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WLNS) – The Grand Rapids Police Dept. has announced the arrest and charges of five people with ties to Miami, Florida who they believe were stealing other people’s personal information using special skimming devices installed at Michigan gas pumps.

The five suspects are each charged with one count of possessing a skimming device, which could get them up to five years in prison.

They’re also charged with one count of conducting a criminal enterprise, a felony punishable by up to 20 years behind bars.

The department says the suspects had tampered with gas pumps to steal financial information in western Michigan. All five are being held on $1 million bonds.
