Road patrols increased for Labor Day weekend

(WLNS) – Law enforcement have increased their presence on all Michigan roads for the past couple of weeks in preparation for over 1 million people who are expected to travel this holiday weekend by car.

Their campaign called Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over has been in effect since the end of August and runs through Monday.

State police and local law enforcement are watching for impaired driving and people not wearing their seatbelts.

Police say traffic is expected to be heavy throughout Labor Day weekend.

Partly because of gas prices, which haven’t been this low at this time of year, since 2004.
