LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -Members of the MSU community got together Friday to make sure kids in the Lansing school district have the supplies they need to start the year right.
They were taking part in the annual Fill the Bus Campaign, sponsored by the Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement.
Participants passed out school supplies to many organizations around Mid-Michigan, including the Lansing School District and Haven House.
Those involved say it’s good to be able to give back to the community
Program Advisor K.C. Keyton says, “We are all about service in our community and we want every student to have no excuses to have a fresh start to the school year. So, that is something we really take pride in and we enjoy doing this event.”
Fill the Bus is also sponsored by CATA and Dean Transportation.
The annual MSU event made a stop at the Elmhurst Learning Center.
This drive is expected to result in thousands of pounds of note books, pencils, folders, markers and more.
Last year the MSU Fill the Bus drive collected over 3,500 pounds of supplies for students.
