EAST LANSING, MI (WLNS) The bear is back. MSU’s iconic 9-foot tall stuffed polar bear returned to Michigan State University Tuesday.

The polar bear spent the summer with a taxidermist for a badly needed makeover.

“He was dirty and needed a bath and today he came back and looks as good as he could have looked from the day he was first worked on back in 1960,” said Scott Winterstein, chair, Dept. of Fisheries and Wildlife, MSU.

It was the first time the bear had been away from the lobby of the natural resources building since 1966.
