Gas prices continue slow slide

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – If you need to fill-up the gas tank today you’ll be glad to know prices haven’t been going up since last week.

According to online gas price watchdog Gasbuddy.com right now the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.82 and is trending down.

In Jackson prices are about the same, right around $2.81.

AAA Michigan says gas prices statewide have dropped by about 16 cents in the past week.

The decline in gas prices follows an increase of about 50 cents reported a week earlier by AAA Michigan amid a partial shutdown of an Indiana oil refinery.

The Dearborn-based auto club says the average price of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.84 per gallon on Sunday. That’s about 66 cents less than at the same point a year earlier.
