Caught on camera: Man writes racial slur on garage door of young, SF tech entrepreneur

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A Chinese-American tech entrepreneur, and his family, recently woke up to find some disturbing graffiti scrawled on their garage door in San Francisco’s Duboce Triangle.

Someone had written an obscenity and an anti-Asian slur. The whole thing was captured on surveillance video.

In the video, you can see a white man with a beard, wearing a baseball hat and hooded sweatshirt, take out a marker and deface the property. This happened at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

The man then picks up a bag or a backpack and calmly walks away. Police said they are investigating the incident as a hate crime. The victim, Justin Kan, might look familiar to some.

He founded and live streamed his life on the Internet back in 2007. More recently, he sold his startup ‘Twitch to Amazon for close to a billion dollars.

He said neither he or his family members have ever seen the man in the video.
