Payment for pricey handbags at center of lawsuit in Detroit

DETROIT (AP) – Five pricey handbags are at the center of a lawsuit in Detroit.

The Detroit News reports Only Authentics dealer Charles Rogers says Birmingham boutique owner Anthony Aubrey made a $20,000 deposit and received five new Hermes purses but stiffed him after agreeing to pay a total of $61,500 for the bags.

Aubrey didn’t return the bags or pay the balance, so Rogers sued last month in federal court accusing him of fraudulent representation.

Rogers wants a judge to force Aubrey to return the purses or pay $124,500.

Aubrey says he was owed money from prior purchases. He says: “We were friends for years, but he didn’t want to pay so I said: ‘Enough.'”

Aubrey says he no longer has the bags and is “not worried” about the situation.
