DEWITT, Mich. (WLNS)— Heavy rains didn’t stop the Panthers from getting in their first practice of the year.
The team got in an early morning session outdoors before a heavy downpour flooded their field Monday.
The Panthers spent the rest of the afternoon practicing indoors.
This is season 14 for coach Rob Zimmerman, who decided to stay on at DeWitt after being offered a job at a major football power outside of the area.
Zimmerman likes his team more each day.
“We’ve made a ton of progress. I like their chippiness,” Zimmerman said Monday. “They’re not very happy the fact that people are questioning them and doubting them. A lot of people feel that they are going to get us this year. I think they’ve taken it to heart and they’ve really worked so I like their attitude right now.”
The Panthers head to East Grand Rapids for a scrimmage game at 5 p.m. on Aug. 20.
