EATON COUNTY, MI (WLNS) – Two people are dead after the car they were in rolled several times along I-69 north, near Charlotte.

It happened around 6:27 p.m. Monday on northbound I-69, south of Five Point Highway.

Police say an SUV lost control and went off the road into the median. That’s when they say it rolled several times, ejecting both people from the car.

One person died on scene. The second person riding in the car was taken to Sparrow Hospital, where they later died.

Both northbound and southbound I-69 were closed temporarily.

Southbound I-69 was re-opened around 7 p.m. Northbound I-69 will stay closed until the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office Accident Team members have finished investigating.
