(WLNS) – A man who has already served four years in prison will be getting a new trial. That is after the Michigan Supreme Court ruled to overturn his conviction.
On November 5th, 2005 police found Larry Pass Junior dead inside his home. Two years later local and federal officials arrested and charged Feronda Smith after they cracked down on the Pierson Hood Gang.
In 2011 he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. But yesterday the state Supreme Court overturned that conviction saying the prosecution team did not tell the jury about FBI payments that were made to a key witness.
That means Smith will get a new trial.
