(WLNS) – July 31 is a day for the dogs, the mutts that is.
It’s National Mutt Day, which was created by Colleen Paige, an animal welfare advocate.
According to the National Mutt Day website, the day is celebrated twice per year to “raise awareness of the plight of mixed breed dogs in shelters around the nation and to educate the public about the sea of mixed breed dogs that desperately await new homes.”
6 News wants to see your mutts. Share your favorite dog picture at www.Facebook.com/WLNS-TV.
If you don’t have a dog and are looking to adopt, consider visiting your local animal shelter.
