LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Do not be surprised if you hear a knock on your door asking for signatures.

On Thursday the Board of State Canvassers gave the go ahead for three separate petition drives. One deals with paid sick time.

The proposal would force companies to give their workers one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours they work.

Labor and community organizations say nearly 1.5 million Michigan workers are not given any paid sick time.

Critics though argue the proposal could reduce the number of jobs in the state.
