Old Town’s new art stirs excitement

Artist Jennifer Springman unveiled her mural for Elderly Instruments on July 21, 2015.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)—Old Town is welcoming new art.

Jennifer Springman unveiled her new mural Tuesday. The original artwork pays homage to nearby Elderly Instruments with images of electric and classic guitars, a banjo and a ukulele as well as the Capitol building and the Brenke Fish Ladder.

Springman said the splash of color is getting a warm welcome.

“The response from the community has just been heart-warming. [I’ve had] so much positive feedback. I wasn’t expecting as much community involvement throughout the whole process and I really felt supported by the Lansing community,” she added.

Elderly Instruments Founder and President Stan Werbin commissioned the painting. Springman completed the design last fall and began painting on June 7.
