UPDATE: Motorcyclist critically injured in Ionia Co. crash

OTISCO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLNS)— Ionia County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a crash that sent at least one man to the hospital.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. Monday at Storey and Fisk roads in Otisco Township.

Investigators say a 44-year-old Rockford man was stopped at the intersection waiting to turn west onto Fisk Road when a pickup truck traveling north on Storey Road hit his bike. The pickup truck driver, a 50-year-old man from Stanton, said he didn’t see the motorcycle in time.

Six agencies responded to the crash, including an Aero Med medical helicopter.

A hospital employee tells 6 news the motorcyclist injured in the crash is in critical condition.  A  co-worker sayst the rider’s injuries include swelling on the brain and broken pelvic bones. It’s unclear if the driver was hurt.

Authorities say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
