LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – It takes a certain flair to turn trash into treasure and for seven years that is exactly what happens at the annual Old Town ScrapFest.
The two-day event celebrates art, a lot of creativity and resource recovery and reuse. There’s also a mix of live music, artist booths featuring recycled, up-cycled, scrap-based and other art, educational activities for all ages and a beer tent for adults.
Here’s what makes ScrapFest special: 17 teams of artists, welders and craftspeople have taken scrap materials from Friedland Industries and turned the junk into sculpture. This Saturday at 7:00 p.m. the finished works of art will be auctioned off.
The fun begins at 6 p.m. July 17 and at noon on July 18 closing at 10 p.m. both days. All the action happens at the Cesar Chavez Plaza, Lot 56 at Turner and Grand River in Old Town.
