DETROIT (WOOD) — The nation’s oldest living veteran will take a special Honor Flight this week to Washington D.C.

Our sister station WOOD reports that Emma Didlake, 110, of Detroit, was a member of the women’s Army Auxiliary Corps during World War II. She will be heading to the nation’s capital on Friday.

President Barak Obama will welcome the 110-year-old veteran to the White House. She will then visit the WWII memorial, her favorite president’s memorial — Franklin D. Roosevelt — and the Women in Military Service Museum.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
